ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound imaging is a technique
used to visualize
muscles,tendons,
and internal organs, their size, structure
and any pathological
lesions with real time tomographic
images. It is also used to visualize a fetus during routine
and emergency prenatal care.
Ultrasound has been used to image
the human body for at
least 50 years. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic
tool in modern medicine. The technology is relatively
inexpensive and portable. Ultrasounds are safe having no
adverse effects.
Doppler ultrasound images can help
the physician to see and
evaluate blockages to blood flow, narrowing of vessels and
tumors.
Ultrasound is a useful way of examining
many
of the body’s internal
organs, including but
not limited to the:
heart and blood vessels
gallbladder
pancreas
uterus and ovaries
liver
spleen
kidneys
prostate
scrotum (testicles)
